Bieber’s new label Skylrk unveiled its futuristic “Earth Bender” shoe at a Tokyo pop-up, created using Zellerfeld’s advanced 3D-printing technology.
Pop star Justin Bieber is entering the fashion sector again with his new streetwear brand, Skylrk, which opened a pop-up store in Tokyo, Japan last week. A 3D printed sneaker created in partnership with footwear platform Zellerfeld was one of the products launched at the popup. The shoes, labeled Earth Bender, are flashy lilac in color with a profile that is similar to a soccer cleat.
From small design studios to major brands like Nike and Havaianas, Zellerfeld is a platform that helps shoe designers recognizes their 3D concepts. Bieber, who founded Skylrk in July with designer Neima Khaila, is the latest designer to make use of their AM resources and expertise.
Beach slides, socks, glasses and hoodies were among the products the brand introduced at the latest lifestyle stand in Tokyo. The Earth Bender shoe, a 3D-printed slip-on sneaker, has garnered the most demand, though. Like the majority of Zellerfeld's shoes, this one piece design combines a variety of materials, like mesh-like panels down the sides. One consumer reviewed the shoe, which had less padding than previous 3D-printed Zellerfeld shoes, and it has a notably smaller profile than its other models. As far as they are aware, Skylrk's website does not list the 3D-printed Earth Bender shoes, which were only offered at the pop-up shop last week.
Since its launch in 2019, VoxelMatters has observed Zellerfeld's development and its partnerships with major brands like Nike and more recently, icons like Bieber indicate its growing importance in the larger footwear market. Notably, the company just launched the GEN3, a new 3D printing technology that, according to the company, will enable it to produce millions of pairs of shoes instead of just thousands due to increased automation, multiple color capability, and printing speeds.
