BSNL launches Kavach, a privacy feature that lets women recharge mobiles in stores using a temporary number instead of revealing their real phone number, improving safety and privacy.
The state-run telecom provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new feature called Kavach that assist female customers to recharge their mobile numbers in physical stores without disclosing the number to the shopkeeper.
This new feature was launched on March 8, International Women's Day, with the goal of assisting women in keeping their phone numbers secret and lowering the possibility of unwanted contact. Women who have a BSNL subscription can now create a temporary 10-digit number that is connected to their real number rather than revealing their actual mobile number. The temporary number can be shared at any BSNL recharge store after it is activated and delivered to the user via SMS.
Women can get the Kavach Number in the BSNL Self Care app. By serving as a barrier between the user's actual mobile number and the recharge process, the Kavach Number helps protect their personal information.
Millions of Indians still need to visit a store to recharge their phone numbers, even though the majority of Indian citizens do on their own with the help of UPI platforms and other mobile apps. Women's private numbers are safeguarded by the BSNL Kavach, which also lessens the possibility that these numbers will be made public. In addition, this increases the privacy between the user and the charger. The women who reside in tier 3 and tier 4 cities will benefit from this kind of feature.
