Maruti Suzuki supports sustainable manufacturing goals by adding 30MWp of solar power and wants to install 319MWp by FY2030–31.
Maruti Suzuki India claims that it has added 30 megawatt peak (MWp) to its installed capacity, bringing it to 79 MWp across all locations. The business established a 10MWp solar project at its factory in Manesar and activated a 20MWp solar facility at its planned manufacturing site in Kharkhoda, Haryana. This is a great boost above the 49MWp capacity reported last year.
According to the auto major, the program is a component of its larger commitment to carbon footprint reduction and sustainable manufacturing. Besides solar panels, the business is using more green electricity sourced from the State Electricity Board in its activities. MSIL said that adopting these policies will allow it to focus more on low-carbon and sustainable manufacturing by switching to more renewable energy.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, says that following Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Environment Vision 2050i and the Government’s focus on renewables, the company is using more renewable sources of power in its operations. Suzuki plans to invest approximately Rs 925 crore to reach a solar power capacity of 319MWp by FY2030–31.
They are dedicated to matching that expansion with similarly ambitious sustainable energy practices as they increase output to four million units. This increase in solar electricity benefits the environment and is an essential step in building cleaner, more sustainable energy ecology.
