On Friday, Google started enabling users to have conversations while searching online by using generative artificial intelligence to provide spoken summaries of search results.
According to Google, Gemini AI models can quickly summarize query results in a conversational style using Audio Overviews.
Whether you're multitasking or just prefer an audio experience, Google stated in a blog post that an audio summary may help you get a feel for the area and provide a practical, hands-free approach to take in information. On the search results page, they show you useful websites directly in the audio player so you can quickly explore and find out more.
Despite concerns about its ad-based economic model, Google is embracing AI and using generative AI to improve online search. Recently, Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed a new AI search option. Beyond AI Overviews, which show responses to inquiries from the tech giant's generative AI capabilities above the conventional blue links to websites and advertisements, the search engine's emerging AI mode goes farther.
According to Pichai, Google has more than 1.5 billion users in many countries since launching AI Overviews in search a little over a year ago. Google's foray into generative AI coincides with growing competition from ChatGPT from OpenAI, which has integrated search engine functionality into its well-known chatbot.
