Indian Edtech Firms Bridge Gaps from U.S. University Cuts

These educational institutions are seeking to increase their collaborations with these businesses in order to boost their income to make up for the shortfall caused by budget cuts.

Indian edtech platforms, particularly those in the higher education and study abroad sectors, are assessing how these may support their companies as the Donald Trump administration cuts billions of dollars in government funding for US colleges.

According to the corporation, funding cuts for prestigious colleges can benefit executive education companies like Eruditus, which is supported by SoftBank. These educational institutions are seeking to increase their collaborations with these businesses in order to boost their income to make up for the shortfall caused by budget cuts.

About 75% of the executive education startup's revenue comes from outside markets, with the US making up 40% of the total. It has agreements with prestigious colleges including Harvard, Columbia, Wharton, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Seven colleges, including Brown, Cornell, Harvard, and Columbia, have already been targeted by the Trump administration, which has either reduced their funding or threatened to do so. This comes after President Trump said that certain prestigious colleges have turned into hubs for political indoctrination and antisemitism. Additionally, it is anticipated that US colleges will try to draw in more overseas students, who make up a sizable portion of their income, which will benefit study-abroad firms.
