39% of the pretzel and cookie manufacturer's production is exported to nations including Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Denmark.
To increase its daily production to 31 tons, the intralogistics company Mecalux has installed two automated storage and retrieval systems at the headquarters of Boehli, a well-known brand in the European snack industry. Its seven manufacturing lines at its 2000-opened factory in Gundershoffen, France, offer snacks, mostly breadsticks, and pretzels, to more than 22 nations.
According to Raphael Wurtz, Plant Manager at Boehli, automation allows them to handle and ship an average of 360 pallets per day. The facility has an 80-meter-long AS/RS for raw materials and packing, as well as an Automated Pallet Shuttle system with a stacker crane for completed items. By combining these technologies, the Alsatian firm has increased its storage capacity and throughput to 4,054 pallets.
Mecalux's Easy WMS warehouse management solution easily integrates Boehli's automated production and logistics processes. Just-in-time delivery to the company's manufacturing lines is made possible by this software. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) connect the manufacturing and storage areas, ensuring a productive and seamless operation.
The fact that Boehli exports 39% of its output, mostly to Germany, Denmark, Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia, emphasizes how important storage technology is to these markets. Wurtz claimed that they have improved order dispatch capacity and optimized flows through automation.
