As the globe faces more complex concerns such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and rising inequality, the need to alter institutions in more sustainable paths becomes more visible and essential.
The United Nations' Sustainability Goals and the EU's (European Union) Green Deal evolved in reaction to vanishing resources and nature degradation, but much has to be done to put the objectives of such frameworks into effect.
Sustainability in Education Institutions, or SUSEDI, takes a Whole Institution Approach to Sustainability, which examines everything from the institution's curriculum to how it is administered and regulated, to how the institution is integrated into the larger community. It is therefore a comprehensive framework that promotes community participation and continual learning, as well as empowering all students and staff to accept responsibility and contribute to creating a sustainable future.
SUSEDI is a transformation and certification journey for 12 educational institutions (Formal, Non-Formal, Primary, Secondary, Higher, VET, and Adult EIs) to adopt the WIA to sustainable development, with the goal of changing them through a series of steps in accordance with the systemic structure of the WIA to sustainability, and certifying them on achieving milestones. SUSEDI also strives to strengthen the sustainability competency of educators, leaders, and administrative personnel, since their participation is important in institutions' adoption of WIA.
The e-learning platform provides an organized and user-friendly structure for navigating and administering educational activities.
