As Abu Dhabi strengthens its international healthcare connections, MoUs seek to advance vaccine R&D, domestic drug manufacturing, and digital health.

In the United Arab Emirates, Sanofi, Abbott, and Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) have entered into collaboration agreements with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health. This will be accompanied by a visit from a high-level delegation in the United States, on June 14-21, 2025. These were visiting the Biotechnology Innovation Organization International Convention in Boston, June 16-19, as well as visiting Philadelphia and Washington, DC.

Abu Dhabi officials stated that the mission aims to reinforce the Emirate’s position as a global leader in healthcare innovation, highlighting its progress in areas such as clinical research, digital health, artificial intelligence, and genomics—a field in which Abu Dhabi asserts regional leadership.

The delegation organized over 20 strategic meetings with US public and commercial sector executives throughout the week-long visit to share knowledge and look into potential prospects. The Health Department undersecretary, Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, stated in a news release that this mission demonstrates their dedication to influencing the future of health through cooperation, creativity, and a common goal.
