By incorporating AI into its operations, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) is undertaking a strategic transition that may be considered an emerging industry trend. As a result, several hundred human resources roles will be replaced. This action is in line with a larger trend where AI is being utilized more and more to automate repetitive operations so that human workers may concentrate on more intricate, strategic, and client-facing jobs.
Industry insiders claim that at least 200 HR workers have already been replaced by AI agents by the IT giant. This broader trend toward automation in the sector is reflected in IBM's use of AI in HR tasks. In order to train its workers to succeed in an AI-augmented environment, the firm is attempting to strike a balance between technology growth and human capital development.
Arvind Krishna, the CEO of IBM, declared on Monday that several hundred HR positions had already been replaced by AI bots. He said that in spite of this cut, recruiting in fields like programming, sales, and marketing—roles that significantly depend on human connection and critical thinking—has led to an increase in the company's overall employment.
Over the next five years, AI may replace up to 30% of non-customer-facing jobs, including human resources, according to IBM's projections. This estimate corresponds to a possible effect of about 7,800 positions.
