NTPC & Tata Power Partner for 200 MW Hybrid Renewable Project

A 200 MW clean power project has been developed through a power purchase agreement (PPA) between NTPC Ltd and Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL).

In a statement released on Monday, TPREL, a division of Tata Power, stated that the project had increased its overall renewable utility capacity to 10.9 GW.

With several locations around India, the Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project is anticipated to be finished in 24 months and provide over 1,300 million units (MUs) of energy yearly, according to TPREL.

Over a million tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced annually as a result of the project. Based on competitive bidding, TPREL was awarded the project, which will use BESS (battery energy storage system), wind, and solar technologies.

The initiative's commitment to a 4-hour peak power supply, which guarantees at least 90% availability during peak demand hours to accommodate distribution businesses' expanding energy demands, is one of its important features.

With hybrid and intricate renewable projects that include solar, wind, and battery storage, this partnership strengthens TPREL's position as a pioneer in India's renewable energy industry.

TPREL now has 10.9 GW of renewable utility capacity overall thanks to this project. 4.5 GW of solar and 1 GW of wind energy make up the 5.5 GW of this capacity that is currently in use. Furthermore, 5.4 GW is in different phases of execution, with 2.7 GW of solar and 2.7 GW of wind projects equally distributed.

These ongoing projects are anticipated to be finished in phases over the course of the next six to twenty-four months.
