At the opening of the fourth Global Renewable Energy Investor's meet (RE-INVEST 2024) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned that world sees India as the finest choice for the twenty-first century.
"The world knows that India is the best bet in the 21st Century Prime Minister Modi said. This was during an exhibition at Mahatma Mandir with state governments, start-ups, public & private sectors. He also talked about his earlier trip to India when US President Barack Obama asked if he felt pressured to meet goals. Modi shared that this is him, and any pressure he faces comes from the unborn future generation. Plus, he works for them.
Prime Minister Modi praised Gujarat's government too. He highlighted that Gujarat was first in starting a solar power policy in the country. They made one of the earliest departments for climate change too. While other places were only talking about solar power, Gujarat had already begun building solar power plants.
PM Modi wasn't alone; Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi were there too.
The exhibition aimed to create networking chances through B2B, B2G & G2G digital platforms. The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) was this year's industry partner. The event's big theme, Mission 500 GW, shows India's goal to boost its renewable energy capacity by 2030. India is now the world's fourth-largest in total green energy investment capacity.
In Gandhinagar, PM Modi also met people who benefited from the "PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijlee Yojna" program. Started on February 29th, this program helps homes make their own electricity by improving rooftop solar capacity.
