Cemex proudly announces its recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a 2024 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for the sixth consecutive year, receiving the prestigious award for sustained excellence in energy management. This accolade underscores Cemex's unwavering dedication to energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental stewardship across its nationwide operations. Cemex's commitment to reducing energy consumption, minimizing environmental impact, and promoting sustainable practices within its cement plants, ready-mix concrete facilities, and other operations across the United States is highlighted through this award.
EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan acknowledges the pivotal role of private sector partners like Cemex in advancing the clean energy agenda outlined in President Biden's Investing in America initiative. He commends ENERGY STAR award winners for their innovation and leadership in providing cost-effective energy-efficient solutions that create jobs, address climate change, and foster a healthier environment. Cemex's dedication to energy efficiency and sustainability aligns with its ambitious goals of reducing carbon emissions per ton of cementitious material by 47% and in concrete by 41% by 2030, while aiming for net-zero carbon emissions across its value chain by 2050. Key initiatives contributing to Cemex's ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition include transitioning to 100% renewable electricity at a cement plant, executing over 30 efficiency upgrade projects, and adopting low-emission compressed natural gas vehicles for transportation purposes.
