Discover how the Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT brings V-8 power, racing-inspired suspension and bold off-road design together. Find out what makes this concept special and when it could hit the roads.
Jeep has brought back a legendary name with a new concept. Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT concept vehicle made its first public appearance at the 2026 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. This vehicle is a preview of what could eventually turn into an exciting off-road pickup. It has been equipped with V-8 engine, desert racing technology and open air features.
The term "Scrambler" is associated with the model from its early days. This is because the first version of the model known as the CJ-8 Scrambler was launched in the 1980s featuring the conventional Jeep design with the extended body and a pickup truck.
A New Suspension System Changes the Game
The biggest highlight is not just its aggressive appearance but the engineering underneath. Working alongside off-road racer Casey Currie, Jeep has developed a high travel independent front suspension system. This is quite an accomplishment, considering that it brings independent front suspension systems to a Jeep Wrangler model.
Another unique aspect of this design is the use of a Trophy Truck style rear axle, heavy wheels and specific off-road components. Its exterior makes an equally strong impression. The concept features a retro-inspired grille, prominent hood scoop, oversized fender flares and a distinctive Punk'n orange finish. Longer doors, custom rear bodywork, an integrated pickup bed and a structural roll cage give it a different identity from a standard Wrangler.
Could a Hellcat V-8 Be Under the Hood?
Jeep has not revealed the exact engine or performance figures. However, the company has confirmed that the concept follows a V-8-powered performance direction. This has raised expectations that it could use either the 6.4-litre 392 engine or the supercharged 6.2-litre Hellcat V-8.
Tim Kuniskis, head of American Brands, SRT Performance and Direct Connection at Stellantis North America, explained the thinking behind the project: "What happens when SRT stops treating the trail as the limit and builds the ultimate open-air desert weapon?"
The interior also focuses on flexibility. Its removable rear seats can be repositioned to create rear-facing seating or removed to make additional room for camping equipment and other adventure gear.
When Could the New Scrambler Reach Showrooms?
The concept is particularly interesting because Jeep had already indicated plans to bring back the Scrambler name during its May 2026 investor presentation. A production lineup could include several versions, with an SRT model positioned at the top.
Although Jeep has not confirmed a launch date, a possible 2028 arrival is being considered. As Business Fortune observes, the next stage will be to see how much of this concept makes it into production. If Jeep retains its racing-inspired suspension and V-8 ambitions, the Scrambler could become an exciting new competitor in the performance off-road pickup segment.
