BMW is opening i3 orders earlier than planned in Germany after receiving strong customer interest in its upcoming all-electric sedan. The automaker began accepting orders for the BMW i3 50 xDrive “First Edition” on June 18, ahead of the originally planned autumn timeline. The move highlights growing demand for premium electric vehicles as BMW prepares to begin production at its Munich plant in August, with customer deliveries still expected in the fall.
The new i3 is the second model based on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform and features a 108.7 kWh battery pack. The sedan offers a WLTP range of up to 563 miles (906 km), while the EPA-estimated range is expected to reach around 440 miles. The First Edition starts at €75,340 in Germany and includes advanced features such as faster AC charging, a Harman Kardon sound system, three-zone climate control, and upgraded cabin technology.
