Inspired by the Vision Meta Turismo, Kia's future EV8 aims to reinvent luxury EVs with a 113.2 kWh battery and several driving modes by fusing augmented reality technology, tremendous performance, and sci-fi style.
Kia is prepared to unveil its most ambitious endeavor to yet, following three consecutive years of record-breaking sales. This new car will be a "halo" vehicle, showcasing the best design and technology available from the corporation. Although an official name has not yet been announced, analysts predict that it will be known as the Kia EV8 or, less likely, the Kia EV7.
The Vision Meta Turismo idea serves as a major source of inspiration for this new vehicle. In honor of their 80th birthday, Kia unveiled this concept vehicle towards the end of last year. It's a long, low sedan that resembles something from a science fiction film. The windshield of the car extends all the way into the roof, giving it an extremely streamlined appearance. Also, it includes a distinctive "yoke" steering wheel that resembles a game controller and uses tiny cameras in place of conventional side mirrors.
For this flagship, performance will be crucial. According to leaked information, the top-tier Kia EV8 will have two motors that generate 450 kW (603 horsepower). Because of this, it would be far more powerful than the previous Kia Stinger, which ran on gasoline. Kia will probably provide a mid-range all-wheel-drive model with 320 kW (429 horsepower) and a rear-wheel-drive model with 160 kW (215 horsepower) for drivers who don't need a lot of speed.
The distance this forthcoming flagship can travel on a single charge is among its most remarkable features. It is anticipated to employ a massive 113.2 kWh battery, and due to its low weight and wind resistance, it might go 700–800 kilometers before requiring a plug.
Instead of a claustrophobic cockpit, Kia wants the interior of the vehicle to seem like a comfortable lounge. Maps and speed data appear to float above the road thanks to augmented reality technology and fewer screens. Speedster, Dreamer, and Gamer are three digital modes that change the interior according to the mood. The production vehicle is anticipated to launch in 2027 and will start at about €51,000, depending on the battery and motor options. This puts it in between the EV6 and EV9 SUV.
