In collaboration with Universal Music Australia, Cotton On has started a continuous initiative to help up-and-coming Australian musicians.
In partnership with Cotton On's in-house product designers, the two have launched the Co-Opt Club, a venue for regional artists to display their original works of art through clothing. Cotton On has teamed up with First Nations artists Tylah Saunders and Bianca Simpson to create a capsule collection of 31 men's and women's clothing items for the inaugural Co-Opt Club collection.
The artwork of Gunditijmara artist Tylah Saunders, who was inspired by the ocean, waterways, and coastal vistas of his childhood home in South Australia, symbolizes his relationship with his identity, culture, and homeland. Bianca Simpson, a passionate Punmu artist, draws inspiration from Punmu and its waterholes to create vibrant, emotionally charged artwork.
In order to guarantee that best standards are adhered to while working with visual artists, Cotton On and the Co-Opt Club have collaborated closely with the Copyright Agency. Cotton On made sure the artists were actively involved in every stage of the project, according to Arlette Martin, business development manager for the visual arts.
Bianca Ginns, managing director of Cotton On Brands, expressed her excitement about the project, which honors up-and-coming Australian artists and builds a center that encourages artistic expression while exporting its distinctive culture to the global market.
