Opportunities for careers in science and space are opened when a group of female students from rural Jharkhand go on a historic academic visit to ISRO.
According to an official here, a group of 28 female students from different government schools in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand left on Sunday on an academic visit to ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Shriharikota. On Monday, he added, the crew will go to the space center.
As he bid them farewell at the district collectorate here, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi wished them well and explained that the purpose of this exposure was to introduce students from underserved communities and those living in rural areas to new opportunities in the fields of science and technology. He stated that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren inspired the district government to launch the academic trip program for the female students.
The DC stated that the students will receive a firsthand understanding of ISRO's different technical and research-related projects as well as experience in space science, rocket launch, and satellite technology.
According to East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Satyarthi, the tour would be a life-changing experience for youngsters from rural areas and would be essential to securing their future. This would allow pupils to dream large and encourage them to seek a career in science and technology, he said. The list of visiting students has already been sent to ISRO.
The squad would be accompanied by instructors under the leadership of Executive Magistrate Mritunjay Kumar.
