Tessell Raises $60M to Transform Database-as-a-Service

A portion of the fresh capital will be used to enhance the startup's database-as-a-service platform's AI capabilities.

Tessett, a multi-cloud database-as-a-service provider, has secured $60 million in a Series B fundraising round. The business plans to use the money to increase its research and development in AI-powered data management and speed up its go-to-market growth. WestBridge Capital led the most recent funding round, which elevated Tesset's total capital to $94 million. LightSpeed Venture Partners continued to participate, and B37 Ventures and Rocketship.vc made additional investments.

Tessell, a San Francisco-based company that was founded in 2021, has created a multi-cloud DBaaS platform that encircles six other commercial database engines (Microsoft SQL Server, Milvus, MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle Database, and PostgreSQL) and offers a suite of database services, such as data protection, security and compliance, and simplified management. Tessell markets its technology as a database co-pilot and unified control plane that facilitates the setup, administration, security, and scalability of several relational cloud databases.

Tessell also promotes its product as a cutting-edge cloud database platform for AI applications with extensions to several relational database engines, in line with the expanding trend of artificial intelligence application development. AI and conversational data management technology, the latter of which offers query and conversational data management capabilities, have been the focus of recent development efforts.

According to a statement from the firm, this money will hasten the development of AI-driven capabilities that make data management more intelligent, interactive, and accessible. This will enable organizations to easily unlock the full value of their data through natural, AI-powered interactions.
