OpenAI Powers Next-Gen Image Tools in Adobe and Figma

OpenAI’s new ‘gpt-image-1’ model brings advanced image generation to apps like Adobe Firefly and Figma, enabling creative editing, custom styles, and smarter design workflows.

The ability of OpenAI's improved image generator in ChatGPT to produce Studio Ghibli-style visuals and incredibly boring dolls drew a lot of people to the AI service, and it's now making its way to other apps. According to a blog post by the firm, some well-known brands have already agreed to use the "gpt-image-1" API, which will provide access to the same native multimodal model that powers the picture generator.

According to OpenAI, the model's adaptability enables it to produce graphics in a variety of styles, adhere to certain criteria, use its knowledge of the world, and display text appropriately, opening up a world of useful applications in various fields.

The approach is already being included in the tools of companies such as Adobe and Figma. According to the blog article, here's how:

Adobe's top innovative tool ecosystem, including its Firefly and Express apps, will enable access to OpenAI's picture-generating capabilities. This will give creators the freedom to try out various aesthetic styles, which is something that consumers, business professionals, and artists all value when coming up with new creative ideas.

According to OpenAI, it's also still collaborating with companies and developers to find other ways that picture production via the API may support their use cases, such as with Instacart, GoDaddy, and Canva.

The "gpt-image-1" model will first be available via OpenAI's Images API; the company plans to soon add support for the Responses API.
