IBM, BNP Paribas Boost Cloud Partnership for AI & Resilience

BNP Paribas extends its collaboration with IBM Cloud to meet EU DORA compliance rules, improve AI capabilities, and guarantee service continuity.

Since 2019, BNP Paribas has hosted IBM Cloud on its data centers. In order to assist its digital transformation, the bank has been able to offer a strong and reliable technical foundation thanks to this relationship.

The European "Digital Operational Resilience Act" (DORA) policy, which intends to increase financial institutions' operational resilience standards, particularly in the areas of IT risk management and business continuity, is being practically implemented by BNP Paribas through this effort. The development of this new cloud infrastructure and the strict control of cloud service provider risks can support the bank's client data protection and business continuity.

This partnership with IBM will be renewed and extended, allowing the bank to employ GPUs on IBM Cloud that are connected to BNP's cloud infrastructure to improve its capabilities. These additional resources can be used by business units to test and deploy generative AI use cases.

Additionally, BNP Paribas is employing containers (microservices) to update cloud-native applications through Red Hat OpenShift®, IBM's Kubernetes container management technology. The bank will be able to develop modular, scalable, and portable apps thanks to this solution, which will increase the responsiveness and flexibility of the provision of financial services. Additionally, it is being developed to facilitate the deployment of new applications, particularly in the domains of payment and payment systems.
