IBM enhances its technology with new features to improve data processing and storage efficiency for businesses.
IBM has strengthened its partnership portfolio with Nvidia, unveiling AI technology, and storage enhancements to bolster enterprise AI scalability. Announced at Nvidia's GTC conference, the Watsonx AI platform from IBM will link with Nvidia's Inference Microservices (NIM), which streamlines the deployment of AI models in cloud and edge environments. The integration enables organizations to monitor and govern the AI models across all respective hosting environments.
The introduction of Nvidia awareness to IBM significantly boosts technology in storage systems called content-aware storage (CAS). Additionally, Nvidia BlueField-3 DPUs and Spectrum-X networking will be used to enable CAS support for IBM Storage Scale, which will accelerate GPU-storage communication.
The CAS leverages natural language processing (NLP) to interpret content from all types of file formats, making AI applications such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) work better. It will be embedded into the forthcoming IBM Fusion update in Q2 2024, thereby optimizing AI workload management.
IBM further announces that Nvidia H200 GPU instances are now available on the IBM Cloud. They offer better memory bandwidth and efficiency for training large AI models and real-time analytics.
Lastly, the IBM Consulting integrating Nvidia Blueprint into AI Integration Service is a big step in helping enterprises build and deploy AI systems. It supports third-party platforms such as Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, and ServiceNow.
With such advances, IBM intends to elevate scalability within artificial intelligence, optimize storage efficiency, and enable adoption within enterprises of the forefronts of artificial intelligence solutions.
