Advance Auto Parts Restructures with 700 Closures & 100 New Stores

Advance Auto Parts closes 700 stores and plans 100 new openings by 2027, focusing on larger market hubs and better inventory.

Approximately 700 stores under Advance Auto Parts have closed down with 500 corporate stores, 200 independent stores and four distribution centers. In November 2024 the company declared store closure strategies aimed at establishing long-term growth prospects.

Advance Auto Parts will establish thirty new stores in 2025 as well as additional 100 locations by 2027. Larger "market hub" stores will open that will stock 75,000 to 85,000 products which surpass the product selection of regular stores to boost inventory volumes and speed up delivery services. The first few market hub outlets will start operations in the Midwest region.

Advance Auto Parts started six new retail locations throughout Florida and New Jersey and Tennessee and Virginia since early 2025 and further plan to open additional stores in Illinois Maryland and Ohio. The investments made by the company strive to enhance store facilities while improving inventory processes and raising employee competency to deliver better service to customers.

Retail closures reached new heights during 2025 because more than 4,300 stores shut down which also includes major brands like Party City and Big Lots. The experts agree that operating expenses escalation alongside shifting customer shopping behaviors help explain the trend. The growth of manufacturer warranties applying OEM parts exclusively to covered vehicles has reduced the market for aftermarket components.

The company presently operates through 4,000 owned stores together with 934 independently managed Carquest locations throughout North America and the Caribbean.
