The 3rd International Workshop on 3D Printing for Applied Technologies, held at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), showcased state-of-the-art developments.
The two-day program included lively conversations and information sharing with the goal of empowering attendees and strengthening Qatar's position as a pioneer in digital manufacturing technologies. The workshop's objectives were to increase knowledge of 3D printing developments in Qatar, provide cutting-edge technology to regional companies, encourage partnerships in digital manufacturing, assist start-ups, and establish Qatar as a leader in the sector both locally and internationally.
Discussions on a variety of cutting-edge subjects were covered at the event. Highlights included developments in laser powder bed fusion for 3D printing metal alloys, hybrid additive manufacturing methods for sensory applications, and the additive production of multifunctional structures combining elastomer, ceramic, and metal. Additional subjects covered were the creation of personalized 3D-printed implants for orthopedic procedures and the 3D printing of metal-doped clay catalysts to aid in decarbonization initiatives. Additionally, the program included specialized practical instruction and 3D printing technology demos.
According to a statement, the workshop demonstrated how UDST strives to strengthen the ties between academics and business, highlighting their shared significance in promoting innovation and solidifying Qatar's position as a regional and international leader in digital manufacturing.
