Performance Brand Unveils Launch Date for First Electric SUV

Alpine, a performance brand owned by Renault, has scheduled the formal launch of its newest model, which will mark the next phase of the French automaker's shift to an all-electric portfolio.

The product-ready A390" sport fastback" SUV, which was first shown in October 2024 as Alpine's A390_β conception, is listed to launch encyclopedically on May 27, 2025. In addition to being Alpine's first electric SUV, it will also be the brand's first SUV overall. It comes after last year's June unveiling of the electrified A290 hot hatch.

Although the firm currently sells the A110 coupe and has hinted at an electric version, Alpine claims that the A390 is a technological marvel that reimagines the iconic sportiness of the A110 in a five-seater automobile. The A390 was only given a single, basic teaser photograph when it was first shown, and from the outside, it looks a lot like the idea before it. That makes sense because, according to Alpine, the outside of the idea was 85% accurate in comparison to the production model of the future.

Outside of the conception showcases of Alpine's most recent design language, it includes the front and reverse" Cosmic Dust" lighting brand. Both ends have full-width light bars, and the concept is surrounded by distinctive aerodynamic components.

Alpine claims that the shark fin at the back is a nod to their Le Mans endurance race vehicles. To change aerodynamic drag, the concept's tail lights and rear diffuser may additionally extend by 80mm, creating a short- or long-tail shape.
