With its all-electric version, the Citroen C5 Aircross can go up to 422 miles.
The automaker is showcasing a concept car at the Paris Motor Show as a sneak peek at what to anticipate from the upcoming second-generation Citroen C5 Aircross. The C5 Aircross Concept is a "vision of its future C-segment SUV," according to Citroen, and it is "95 per cent close to the definitive model," according to CEO Thierry Koskas.
The first car to be constructed on the new STLA Medium architecture—which allows for ICE, hybrid, and pure-electric engine options—will be the 2018 Citroen C5 Aircross. This architecture was created by parent company Stellantis. As such, we expect the commercial version of the idea to feature batteries with capacities of 73kWh and 98kWh. At the Paris Motor Show, Koskas disclosed that a 422 mile range should be achievable with the bigger battery variant.
Citroen claims that the C5 Aircross Concept is a "multi-powered vehicle," meaning that internal combustion, hybrid, and pure electric propulsion are likely options. Most likely, the engine powering the whole Stellantis Group—a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder mild hybrid with 134 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque—will be this one.
We haven't been inside the real car yet, but the outside should look a lot like the Citroen Aircross designs. The CEO said that they are not yet showing you the inside in order to respect people's patience. However, it will be amazing. The Citroen brand is returning! The CEO also declared that the French company will continue to prioritize comfort above performance with the C5 Aircross.
Citroen states that the concept "heralds a model scheduled for 2025," thus the final version won't be out for very long. The new C5 Aircross is expected to go into production in the middle of the next year, and it will be reasonably priced compared to its Stellantis siblings. The starting price for the electric car should be about £40,000, while the hybrid should be around £35,000.
