9th Gen NAND Flash

Micron's 9th-Gen NAND Flash Technology makes it the first company in the industry to reach this milestone.

With a 3.6 GB/s transfer speed, the Micron G9 NAND offers unparalleled bandwidth for both reading and writing data. From consumer devices and edge servers to enterprise and cloud data centers, this NAND delivers best-in-class performance for AI and other data-intensive use cases.

Micron's EVP of technology and products, Scott DeBoer, stated that the company's ability to innovate in design and process technology was demonstrated by the delivery of Micron G9 NAND. He continued by saying that 9th-Gen NAND Flash Production was up to 73% denser than competing technologies available on the market at the time, enabling more efficient and compact storage solutions that are advantageous to both consumers and enterprises.

The company's G9 NAND delivers 50% quicker data transfer than any NAND that is currently shipped in an SSD, leveraging the best NAND I/O performance in the industry to suit the high-throughput demands of data-centric workloads. In addition, this G9 NAND offers 88% better read bandwidth per die and up to 99% more write bandwidth than competing NAND alternatives that are currently on the market. Performance and energy efficiency improvements in SSDs and embedded NAND solutions are a result of these per-die advantages.

The company's G9 NAND, which uses 28% less space than rival products and fits in a small 11.5×13.5mm box like its previous-generation NAND, is the smallest high-density NAND on the market. Greater density in a more compact footprint optimizes design possibilities for a wide range of applications.

According to Micron's EVP and CBO, Sumit Sadana, the company has led the industry in introducing cutting-edge, novel NAND technology for three consecutive generations. Products that use Micron G9 NAND will outperform competing products in terms of performance. He continued by saying that Micron G9 NAND will provide a solid base for future advancements in storage technology, benefiting clients in every end market.
