The personalized member engagement platform has quickly grown in Australia and is now looking to do the same internationally
In its expansion efforts into North America, Australia-based health tech firm Coach Welly has appointed John Blackburn as its North American lead. Blackburn, previously holding positions at IBM and DMI, will spearhead enterprise growth initiatives for Coach Welly in the United States and beyond. CEO Owen Bowling expressed excitement about Blackburn's extensive experience and strategic vision, foreseeing his contributions as crucial to the company's success in entering North American markets. Blackburn's background includes roles at EY, PWC, SVP Retail, and EVP, where he facilitated commercial growth and strategic investments. He views Coach Welly as well-positioned to address the increasing emphasis on health and wellness, advancements in technology, and rising healthcare costs by delivering meaningful health outcomes and behavior change.
Joining Blackburn in leadership, Troy Morgan assumes the role of Asia-Pacific (APAC) lead, bringing over 25 years of experience in the health and wellness sector. Coach Welly, anchored by artificial intelligence (AI), engages users through personalized health and fitness journeys, supported by biometrics and gamification elements in a cloud-based framework. The company's recent partnership with World Gym Australia showcases its engagement capabilities, including scanned readiness scores for curated workouts and gamification features. With pre-seed funding valuing the company at $4.25 million and a growing list of contracted customers, Coach Welly hints at potential similar partnerships in North America with Blackburn at the helm.
