Genesis has revealed the X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo concept as a full-scale model for the "Gran Turismo" video game series, set to be available in January.
Genesis unveiled the X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo concept as a full-scale model and confirmed that it will be available in the video game starting in January during this past weekend's Gran Turismo World Series World Finals in Barcelona, Spain.
The idea, which shows a hypercar with 1,071 horsepower, is part of the Vision Gran Turismo series, a challenge that Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi issued to auto design teams worldwide at the beginning of the previous decade. Some of the resulting concepts have impacted the designs of production-bound models, but the majority is too crazy to use in real life.
Though it is unlikely to go into production, the X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo shows off the versatility of Genesis' current design language and could provide a sneak peek at technology and design aspects that could eventually be seen in showroom-bound cars, possibly including a flagship EV that has been rumored.
For a large portion of the construction, Genesis plans to use carbon fiber, including in the cabin, which depends on padded sections with quilted details anywhere the occupants might come into contact with a surface. The hub of the steering wheel and the dash both have digital screens; the latter shows infotainment material in addition to video recorded by cameras that have taken the place of the side mirrors.
