The well-known pumpkin spice latte from the coffee shop chain turns 20 this fall.

Starbucks is introducing a third pumpkin beverage to its fall menu as it marks the 20th anniversary of its pumpkin spice latte. The iced pumpkin cream chai latte will be available starting on Thursday, joining the company's current pumpkin menu that also includes the pumpkin cream cold brew, which is coming back for a sixth year.

Despite the weather outside, Starbucks customers are increasingly choosing cold drinks over hot ones, prompting the seasonal menu addition. The movement has been driven by younger consumers, such as those in the Gen Z group. In the fall of last year, Starbucks sold more than three-quarters of its beverages as cold drinks.

Although the iced pumpkin cream chai latte has just recently made an official appearance on menus, customers have been able to purchase the beverage for years by topping their iced chai lattes with pumpkin cream cold foam. The alleged "secret menu" beverage gained popularity thanks to TikTok, where baristas and consumers frequently post pictures of their personalized cocktails.

A seasonal variation on its well-known iced brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso, Starbucks is now debuting the iced apple crisp oat milk shaken espresso in addition to the iced pumpkin cream chai latte.
