Zayo has launched agentic networking for its DynamicLink platform, allowing approved enterprise AI agents to understand network conditions, use authorized tools and perform selected network actions under defined controls.
The move marks a change in how Network as a Service (NaaS) can be used. Earlier NaaS models mainly gave businesses software-based visibility and self-service control over infrastructure. Zayo’s new approach brings those network capabilities into the AI systems enterprises already use to manage applications, cloud environments and business operations.
Why is Zayo bringing AI directly into networking?
Zayo introduced DynamicLink in September 2025 as a new approach to software-defined networking. As the platform reaches its first year in production, the company says it is adding the industry’s first production Model Context Protocol (MCP) server built specifically for networking.
The MCP server provides a governed connection between approved AI agents and network tools. Businesses can decide what information an agent can access, which tools it can use and what actions it is allowed to perform. Automation remains subject to enterprise controls and human oversight.
“This combination creates a way for approved AI agents to understand what is happening across the network, access network tools and execute authorized actions,” said Chris Ranalli, Chief Revenue Officer for Enterprise at Zayo.
What could Agentic Networking actually do?
The technology is designed for practical network operations rather than simply answering questions. AI agents can help establish cloud-to-cloud connectivity, investigate network performance and coordinate connectivity across multiple cloud environments. They can also gather information from network, cloud and application environments to help identify performance problems and recommend possible next steps. For unusual network activity, agents can surface relevant context and suggest actions for engineers to review.
Where organisations provide permission, agents can also invoke authorized DynamicLink tools to carry out approved network or security changes. This could reduce the need for engineers to move between several systems for routine tasks. Zayo believes the approach could be particularly useful for retail, financial services, healthcare, media and entertainment companies dealing with increasingly complex and data-heavy environments.
Will AI replace network teams?
Zayo’s Agentic Networking is being presented as a solution that helps the network team rather than removing human authority. Max Clauson, SVP of Network Connectivity at Zayo, said enterprise AI will increasingly be judged by what it can responsibly accomplish across the systems running a business.
