SK Expands its AI infrastructure by partnering with NVIDIA, Microsoft, Anthropic and AWS to build AI data centers, AI factories and next generation AI memory solutions
SK Expands Global AI Partnerships to Strengthen Infrastructure
SK Expands its artificial intelligence infrastructure strategy through a series of partnerships with global technology leaders including NVIDIA, Microsoft, Anthropic and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The agreements, announced at the K-AI Summit in San Francisco, aim to accelerate the development of AI data centers, AI semiconductors and next generation AI computing infrastructure in South Korea while strengthening the country's position in the global AI ecosystem.
The collaborations support SK Group's broader vision of investing in nationwide AI infrastructure, including large scale AI data centers and semiconductor projects announced earlier this year.
NVIDIA Partnership Targets 2GW AI Factory
One of the biggest announcements is SK's long term partnership with NVIDIA to develop AI infrastructure valued at more than $500 billion. The collaboration includes plans to build Korea's largest 2GW AI factory, powered by NVIDIA's next generation AI computing architecture and SK Hynix's HBM4 memory.
SK Telecom plans to begin operating the high performance AI factory from 2027, supporting sovereign AI, enterprise AI, physical AI and agentic AI applications across the Asia Pacific region.
"We expect that this collaboration will further accelerate the 'Mega Project' recently announced by the government," an SK official said.
Microsoft and SK Hynix Deepen AI Memory Cooperation
SK Hynix has also entered a long term partnership with Microsoft to supply next generation AI server memory optimized for data centers. The companies will jointly develop memory technologies designed to meet increasing AI workload demands while establishing new standards for AI server performance.
The agreement further strengthens SK Hynix's position as a key supplier of advanced AI memory solutions.
Anthropic and AWS Expand AI Data Center Plans
SK Telecom also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Anthropic to support the construction of a gigawatt scale AI data center in South Korea. Meanwhile, AWS will expand its existing partnership with SK Telecom following their collaboration on the Ulsan AI Data Center.
Together, the companies aim to combine SK Telecom's infrastructure expertise with AWS's cloud capabilities to significantly increase AI computing capacity across the country.
South Korea Strengthens AI Leadership
The latest partnerships reinforce South Korea's ambition to become a global AI infrastructure hub.
Business Fortune believes that by collaborating with leading technology companies, SK aims to accelerate AI innovation while creating the foundation for future AI services, cloud computing and semiconductor development.
