AI startup Aampe joins MoEngage in an all-cash acquisition, strengthening AI-powered customer engagement and personalized marketing capabilities.
MoEngage has acquired AI startup Aampe in an all-cash deal, bringing advanced AI decision-making technology into its platform. While the financial terms were not disclosed, industry sources suggest the acquisition was valued in the tens of millions of dollars. The move highlights MoEngage’s growing focus on helping brands deliver highly personalized customer experiences at scale.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in San Francisco, Aampe specializes in autonomous AI agents that help brands determine the best message, timing, channel, and frequency for each individual customer. Instead of relying mainly on demographics or location, Aampe’s technology analyzes customer behavior to make real-time engagement decisions.
A Faster Path to Smarter Marketing
According to MoEngage Co-founder and CEO Raviteja Dodda, the company had already been developing AI decisioning capabilities internally. However, acquiring Aampe allowed MoEngage to accelerate its plans significantly.
As generative AI makes content creation easier than ever, businesses now face a different challenge: deciding which content should reach which customer. Aampe’s technology addresses this problem by automating customer-level decisions through dedicated AI agents.
Following the acquisition, Aampe founders Paul Meinshausen, Schaun Wheeler, and Sami Abboud, along with approximately 20 employees, will join MoEngage and lead its agentic decisioning initiatives.
Why Does AI Decisioning Matter So Much?
Traditional marketing often sends similar messages to large groups of customers. Aampe takes a more personalized approach by creating AI agents that continuously learn from customer behavior and determine:
-
What message should be sent
-
When it should be delivered
-
Which channel should be used
-
How frequently customers should be contacted
The company claims its platform processes more than 200 billion decisions every week and has deployed millions of AI agents across its customer base. Brands such as Swiggy, Grab, Taxfix, and ZenBusiness have already used Aampe’s technology to improve customer engagement.
North America Continues to Fuel Growth
The acquisition comes as MoEngage experiences strong growth in North America, which now contributes more than 35% of its business and is nearing 40%. The region has reportedly grown between 80% and 90% annually over the last three years.
MoEngage has also crossed $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and recorded year-on-year growth of approximately 40% to 45% over the past year. The company expects the Aampe acquisition to generate additional revenue and help it move closer to its target of $150 million ARR by FY27.
Founded in 2014, MoEngage has raised nearly $487 million to date and is preparing for a future public market listing after completing its reverse flip to India.
Looking Ahead
As Business Fortune observes, businesses compete to deliver more relevant customer experiences, hence AI-powered decisioning is becoming a critical differentiator. By integrating Aampe’s autonomous AI technology, MoEngage is positioning itself to lead the next phase of customer engagement, where AI not only creates content but also decides exactly how and when customers should receive it.
