ixigo launches its AI-native travel app with conversational AI, Trip Mode, and automated travel assistance to deliver smarter, personalized travel experiences.

India’s leading travel platform ixigo has launched a redesigned AI-powered version of its mobile app to make trip planning and travel management easier for users. Planning a trip can often feel overwhelming, with travelers having to compare multiple options, manage bookings and keep track of changing schedules. For many people, the process becomes so complicated that they either delay planning altogether or end up making rushed decisions in last minute that lead to poorly planned trips.

Announced at the company’s ixigo NEXT event, Ixigo AI-Driven Travel App TARA brings in conversational AI, smart travel assistance and personalized recommendations to create a stress free travel experience.

Travel Planning Becomes a Friendly Conversation

TARA, ixigo’s upgraded AI assistant, unlike regular chatbots that only answer simple questions, TARA can understand natural conversations and more detailed travel requests.

Users can interact with TARA through voice, text, or tap commands in English, Hindi, and Hinglish. The assistant can help with hotel searches, trip planning, travel updates, cancellations, and refund support, all within the app.

The new app moves away from traditional search filters and multi-step booking flows. Instead, travelers can simply describe what they want in natural language.

For example, users can ask questions like, “Show me hotels in Dubai with an infinity pool and a view of the Burj Khalifa” or “Help me plan a multi-city trip”

Based on travel history, booking behavior, and preferences, TARA delivers personalized recommendations and booking suggestions in real time. The AI assistant also provides proactive support by monitoring flight schedules, tracking delays, sharing terminal and gate updates, and assisting with cancellations or refunds.

What Makes Trip Mode Different

One of the major additions is Trip Mode, a feature that brings all post-booking travel information into a single interface.

Instead of switching between multiple apps or emails, travelers can access:

  • Boarding passes

  • Gate and terminal details

  • Baggage belt information

  • Real-time travel alerts

  • Flight status updates

Trip Mode also offers contextual travel support. The app can recommend when users should leave for the airport based on live traffic conditions and provide personalized travel content during journeys.

AI Agents Handles Travel Tasks

ixigo also introduced what it calls “Agentic Travel Flows,” where AI agents automatically manage several travel-related tasks behind the scenes.

These AI-powered systems can:

  • Send boarding passes directly to WhatsApp

  • Update boarding passes in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet

  • Monitor flight schedules for delays and cancellations

  • Assist with refund processes

  • Coordinate with hotels ahead of check-in

The company emphasized that many of these automated features are permission-based and fully opt-in, allowing users to stay in control of their data and travel preferences.

Speaking at the launch, Group Co-CEO Rajnish Kumar and Group CEO Aloke Bajpai said the company believes the future of travel will be “agent-led,” where AI can understand intent, take proactive actions, and support travelers before, during, and after trips.

Future Outlook

As Business Fortune observes, with growing demand for personalized and seamless digital experiences, ixigo’s AI-native approach signals a broader shift in the travel industry toward intelligent, automated travel assistance. As AI adoption increases, platforms like ixigo may redefine travel planning by turning apps into real-time travel companions rather than simple booking tools.
