SAP and S3NS partner to deliver SAP RISE on a secure sovereign cloud platform in France, enabling regulated industries to modernize ERP with strong data protection and compliance.
SAP and S3NS, a joint venture between Thales and Google Cloud, have formed a partnership to offer SAP RISE Private Cloud Edition on S3NS’s secure cloud infrastructure platform called PREMI3NS. This platform is certified under France’s SecNumCloud standards and is expected to be available commercially by the second half of 2026.
This collaboration enables cloud adoption for highly regulated industries, such as public administration, aerospace and defense, and providers of critical and important services, by fusing SAP's enterprise apps and Business AI capabilities with S3NS's reliable infrastructure. Any firm operating under the GDPR, the NIS2 directive, or sector-specific French legislation must take note of the outcome, which also sends a message well beyond France's boundaries.
Thomas Saueressig, Chief Customer Officer and Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE stated, this partnership represents a major step forward for their customers in France and sends a strong signal across Europe. Customers can combine SAP’s innovation and scalability within an environment that meets the highest regulatory requirements, enabling transformation without compromise.
Thales will be the first company to move its entire ERP system to this platform, including functions like finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement. This SAP and S3NS partnership will help improve secure cloud services in France and support more businesses in Europe as they shift to cloud-based operations.
Additionally, SAP has strengthened its sovereign cloud capabilities in Germany, obtaining IT baseline certification for its data centers and developing infrastructure to accommodate highly regulated and classified workloads. When taken as a whole, these projects show a concerted effort to provide cloud models tailored to each nation that comply with local data governance and regulatory standards.
As part of this strategy, sap secure cloud is removing a major obstacle that has historically prevented cloud adoption in regulated industries by enabling businesses to modernize ERP systems, adopt AI capabilities, and scale operations in the cloud while maintaining strict control over data residency, legal jurisdiction, and operational governance.
As Business Fortune observes, the partnership highlights a clear shift toward sovereign, regulation-ready cloud systems that allow enterprises to modernize with AI and cloud technologies without compromising on data control or compliance.
