Business Fortune-Diskover Secures $7.5M from Snowflake & NetApp for AI Data

Diskover Data Inc., a big-data discovery firm, made headlines when it revealed a $7.5 million initial investment round, its first acquisition, and significant alliances with NetApp Inc. and Snowflake Inc.

The firm has gained momentum by creating a new platform that helps businesses structure their unstructured data and improve its usability and security for AI models. Diskover's new partners, Snowflake and NetApp, participated in the round, which was headed by Park Capital Partners and The Hive. The money will be used to grow its engineering and go-to-market teams.

Diskover's goal is to assist businesses in sorting through the vast amounts of unstructured data, including papers, PDF files, audio recordings, videos, text messages, handwritten note scans, receipts, and more, which may be incredibly important.

Up to 80% of the data that a typical business stores is made up of these kinds of objects, yet the majority of it just sits in storage arrays and gathers dust. This is because businesses find it nearly hard to monitor, control, secure, and employ in any significant way due to its unstructured nature.

However, the most important source of fuel for massive language models, which offer enormous promise for business automation, is unstructured data. Diskover wishes to assist them in comprehending the nature, location, and potential applications of their unstructured data.

The company accomplishes this by continually scanning and indexing millions or perhaps billions of unstructured data files from on-premises servers and cloud computing environments within a business. This enables it to create searchable metadata for those files, describing their contents and location. It may then use that metadata to generate a real-time inventory that includes tools to help with governance, classification, and discovery.
