The new Galaxy Z TriFold debuts in South Korea, offering a tablet-sized screen, improved durability, and expanded market plans worldwide.

The Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung Electronics Co.'s first trifold smartphone showcases the company's engineering strength in foldable smartphones even with the category's challenges to garner widespread popularity.

The Galaxy Z TriFold which boasts two hinges allowing it to expand into a tablet-sized device will be launched in South Korea on 12 December with a price of 3.59 million won (around US$2,450). Samsung wants to offer the Gadgets in the US and other markets including China, Taiwan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates yet pricing for those countries has not been announced yet.

Several months before Apple Inc.'s planned launch of its first foldable iphone the announcement was made on Tuesday during an event in Seoul. According to Bloomberg it will have a book-like design comparable to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 released in July. When folded, the TriFold resembles a foldable iphone but expands to show a 10-inch tablet-like display, larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The equivalent of three 6.5-inch trifold smartphones placed side by side each of the three screens may operate separately.

Samsung tri fold smartphone 2025 has focused on strength developing the hinges, aluminum frame and display technologies that reduce the risk of breaking. The company will provide a one-time 50% discount on display repairs. At its thinnest point the TriFold measures 3.9 mm and is powered by a 5,600 milliamp-hour battery enabling up to 17 hours of continuous video playback with the display fully open.

During a hands-on session the galaxy z trifold responded without effort warning users if they folded incorrectly with on-screen notifications and vibrations. The device also has Samsung’s suite of Galaxy AI features such as Generative Edit, Photo Assist and Writing Assist, as well as a six-month trial of Google AI Pro. Although early sales of Samsung's foldables have exceeded those of earlier models numbers are still small when compared to conventional versions like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
