Javid Dar on Farm Awareness

Cabinet Minister Javid Ahmad Dar started an extensive awareness campaign on agriculture and allied sector schemes in Jammu, aimed at empowering farmers across Jammu and Kashmir.

The program aims to promote market-driven agricultural production, innovation, and the full participation of women, youth, and small farmers. The program was witnessed by the Directors of Agriculture, Horticulture, and Animal Husbandry, Managing Director JK AGRO, specialists from SKUAST-J, representatives of financial institutions, farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and emerging entrepreneurs.

On December 18, 2025 Javid Ahmad Dar, Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, under the Jammu & Kashmir Comprehensive Agricultural Development Programme (JKCIP/HADP) at Kisan Kendra, Talab Tillo, Jammu, addressed the Multi-Stakeholder Platform Meet–2. The event was attended by the JKCIP/HADP Mission Director and other agricultural directors.

Addressing audience, Minister emphasized the need of increasing direct market connections, removing farmers' reliance on middleman, and recreating successful technology on a bigger scale. He also underlined the significance of employing contemporary, sustainable, and income-oriented agricultural methods to fasten the output and enhance lives.

The Minister emphasized the importance of such forums in bringing together farmers, FPOs, government agencies, agri-entrepreneurs, financial institutions, researchers, and civil society to collaborate on agricultural and related sector growth. He reaffirmed that agriculture remained the backbone of the Jammu and Kashmir economy, emphasizing the need of empowering farmers for long-term regional development.

Ensuring maximum outreach and benefits to the farming community, Javid Ahmad underlined the launching of a strong awareness campaign on agriculture and allied sector schemes. He stressed the need to strengthen market linkages, promote market-driven production, reducing dependency on middlemen, encourage public-private partnerships, and raise inclusive decision-making by not only involving small and marginal farmers but also women and youth.

The Minister stated that the main goal is to transform the traditional farming into a modern, income-oriented and market-driven system. He also called for replication of successful innovations and technologies in agriculture and horticulture, for the future advancement.
