ISRO LVM3 Launches BlueBird-2

ISRO successfully launched the 6,100-kg BlueBird Block-2 satellite for AST SpaceMobile, marking India’s largest commercial payload and worldwide partnership landmark.

The BlueBird Block 2 satellite was successfully launched into low earth orbit on Wednesday morning, December 24 2025, by the Indian Space Research Organization's (ISRO) Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3) as part of the ISRO LVM3-M6 launch.

The ISRO LVM3-M6 launch saw the LVM3 take off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center's second launchpad in Sriharikota at 8:55 in the morning and fifteen minutes later it was in the proper orbit. With this mission, ISRO achieved two major milestones: the BlueBird Block 2 satellite became the biggest payload (6,100 kg) to be launched by LVM3 from Indian territory, and it was able to launch the largest commercial communications satellite in Earth's lowest orbit.

ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan stated that the ISRO Bluebird Block-2 mission communication satellite has been successfully and precisely injected into the desired orbit by the LVM 3 Bahubali rocket M6 launch vehicle. Also, this is the first dedicated commercial launch for a customer from the USA.

According to Dr. Narayanan, this is the heaviest satellite that has ever been launched from Indian territory. He is overjoyed to declare that their orbit's performance is less than two kilometers. In the worldwide arena, this launch vehicle's performance is among the finest. India has successfully launched 434 satellites for 34 countries with this project.

India's space program is becoming more advanced and important due to the youth of India. By showcasing dependable heavy-lift performance, the successful LVM3-m6 launch is strengthening the groundwork for next missions like Gaganyaan, growing commercial launch services, and expanding international partnerships. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on social media, this improved capacity and increase in confidence is wonderful for upcoming generations.

AST Space Mobile, USA, develops the ISRO BlueBird Block-2 mission communication satellite, which is a member of the next generation of BlueBird Block-2 communication satellites planned to give regular mobile smartphones direct access to space-based cellular broadband connectivity.
