Former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos Leads Project Prometheus, Backing an AI Startup with $6.2B to Advance Spaceflight.
Jeff Bezos will be co-CEO of Project Prometheus, a new AI startup that focuses on using the technology for physical tasks. Bezos supports the launch of Project Prometheus with $6.2 billion. The former co-CEO of the startup is Vik Bajaj a physicist and chemist who lately served and co-founded the biotech firm Foresite Labs. Bajaj is also popular for his work at Google's X lab, which is enthusiastic to launch project. As well, he worked as co-founder of Alphabet’s precision health tech startup Verily.
Bezos departed his role as CEO of Amazon in 2021 and has a lengthy history of investing in and expanding businesses. Since the mid-2000s, Bezos Expeditions, his most familiar venture investing company, has participated in at least 115 recognized fundraising rounds. The founder of Amazon is also recognized for his interest in space technology, most notably through the spaceflight startup Blue Origin. The startups claim to have launched 80 individuals into space to date.
Project Prometheus focuses on AI that will help in engineering and manufacturing in multiple fields, including computers, aerospace, and automobiles. Its work could possibly provide technology that Blue Origin could use to more its aims for increasing spaceflight. Nearly 100 employees have already been employed by the company, including researchers from OpenAI, Meta's AI projects, and other renowned AI labs.
