Business Fortune: ABB Scientist Joins Peking Univ

China's industrial AI leadership is strengthened as ABB's top scientist, Pang Zhibo, joins Peking University, creating a change in worldwide robotics and chip research.

Pang Zhibo, a leading professional in industrial chips and robotics who worked for the luxury manufacturing giant ABB in Sweden, has come back to China and become a fully employed professor at Peking University.

Zhibo handled more than 800 developers and 80 technical products worldwide across all industry areas as ABB's senior principal scientist, second only to the company's chief technology officer, who personally selected him. One of the biggest industrial engineering companies in the world, the Swiss-Swedish multinational has become recognized for robotics, motors, energy, and technology. He shares responsibility for ABB's worldwide distribution and R&D program.

Robotic embodiment intelligence, industrial big models, next-generation processors, industrial cyber-physical security, networked control, cloud/fog technology, and 5G/6G/broadband satellite connectivity were among the core domains covered by the energy.

These technologies are used in ABB's core industries, like automation, robotics, industrial drives, intelligent structures, and innovative manufacturing. Also, Zhibo is a visiting professor at the University of Sydney in Australia and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. He has conducted studies on cloud-based automation, encrypted communication for 6G, and embodied intelligence.
