MBZUAI to launch K2 Think, a powerful open-source AI model designed for advanced reasoning and cognitive tasks.

In a LinkedIn post, MBZUAI President Eric Xing revealed that the Institute of Foundation Models at the university is getting ready to launch K2 Think in collaboration with G42. Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi and chairman of the AI and Advanced Technology Council has backed the plan, which has the approval of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

As an open-source reasoning model, K2 Think was created with the goal of outperforming many larger models while being leaner and more effective. The graduate-level university MBZUAI specializes in AI research and education. The K2 Think project, which was developed by its Institute of Foundation Models in partnership with Abu Dhabi-based G42, is positioned as a component of the UAE's plan to increase its involvement in cutting-edge AI research and development.

In his LinkedIn post, Xing states that he wants to express his sincere gratitude to HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for endorsing the launch of K2 Think, the most potent open-source reasoning model in the world. He also thanks His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed for their vision and unwavering support of MBZUAI. Abu Dhabi has become a global center for AI innovation thanks to its leadership, which has also made it possible for its Institute of Foundation Models to conduct cutting-edge foundation model research and development.
