Wayside Days in Sheboygan features live music, art tours, workshops, and hands-on creative community activities.
Sheboygan will host Wayside Days from September 18 to 20 which is a unique festival presented by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. This three day event inspires guests to express their creativity and take in various cultural experiences with a stress on art, music and community.
The Art Preserve is a special location that unites art and nature will host the event.
There is live music to thrills the festival on the evening of September 18. After a performance by singer Tiffany Xiong, Bizhiki, an Indigenous Indie Rock and Powwow band will take the stage. Visitors are allowed to bring chairs or picnic blankets. Food trucks will be available for the visitors to enjoy food and beverages. Visitors can have a unique behind the scenes look at the Art Preserve's collection on September 19. This unique tour discusses how artworks are conserved while showcasing pieces that are typically stored. Additionally, there will be an Open Singing Circle workshop where attendees can learn and perform traditional songs from many cultures such as Appalachian folk songs, Hmong song poetry and Ojibwe powwow music. The program shows how important language and storytelling are to musical traditions.
Community Day is the last day that falls on September 20 and it offers a range of environmental and art activities for people of all ages. Along with learning about native plants and taking part in a seed bomb-making activity conducted by a Native American educator, visitors can take part in guided tours of the Art Preserve grounds. Also interactive art projects, live music, and refreshments, the day is the ideal opportunity to foster creativity and social interaction. Wayside Days offers a fantastic chance to explore Sheboygan's natural beauty and honor the power of music and art.
