Even while platform changes are anticipated to be the event's main attraction, third-party collaborations and tighter app integration are still likely to provide significant improvements to Apple Intelligence.
Beginning on June 9, 2025, Apple will convene its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The US-based software behemoth announced during the event keynote that it will release platform upgrades throughout its ecosystem, including the next iOS version. Although capabilities driven by artificial intelligence are anticipated to be included in the announcements, they might not be the main attraction this year.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims that from an AI perspective, the conference could be disappointing. According to his claim, Apple would prioritize major operating system upgrades for all of its devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more, rather than introducing any big new capabilities for its Apple Intelligence suite.
Significant improvements are still anticipated for Apple Intelligence, even if platform changes are anticipated to be the event's main attraction. A new software development kit (SDK) and associated frameworks may be released by Apple to enable developers to further incorporate Apple Intelligence products, such as Writing products, into their applications. Like the existing connection with OpenAI's ChatGPT, Apple is also apparently looking at joint ventures with other AI companies like Google and Anthropic to bring their models to Apple Intelligence.
According to reports, Apple is getting ready to completely revamp its operating systems in order to provide a more consistent user experience across all of its devices. Users would be able to switch between platforms like iOS and macOS more easily as a result. Subtle motion effects, shimmering components that react to device movement, and transparent menus and panels modeled by visionOS are examples of aesthetic upgrades.
