Zoho CEO Warns of Job Disruption Amid Rise in Automation

Sridhar Vembu, CEO of Zoho, cautions tech workers about the possibility of job disruptions brought on by more automation and technological changes.

Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu has issued a warning against assuming that the technology has led to a large reduction in costs and job losses. The CEO cautioned on social media on Sunday morning, that high-tech salaries might not stay forever.

He claimed that techies making high wages were not born with them, drawing comparisons between software engineers and mechanical, civil, chemical, or even school instructors. He warned them not to take it casually and not to expect that it would stay forever, which foreshadowed their anxieties. He also said that the fact that consumers pay for their goods should not be taken for granted, serving as a warning that anyone's career path might be interrupted.

The chief scientist of Zoho claims that AI-related productivity will eat up jobs, which is consistent with predictions from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from January 2024. Further, it predicted that AI would eliminate about 40% of jobs worldwide.

Recently, Bill Gates outlined a plan to reconsider conventional labor arrangements. People have a lot more free time when they stop viewing human-driven behavior as necessary, and it nearly becomes a philosophical topic—a question of meaning, he remarked at an event hosted by The Indian Express called Express Adda.

People who were raised in a world of scarcity will need to reconsider their beliefs, he continued. These days, they have the option of having a human or a machine perform a work. Reprogramming your brain to this change is challenging.
