Trump Says Apple Could Shift iPhone Production to the U.S.

White House says U.S. can handle iPhone manufacturing as Trump pushes for domestic tech jobs despite Apple’s global production focus.

According to President Donald Trump, the United States has the personnel and resources necessary to manufacture the iPhone there.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed President Trump as being Made-in-the-USA on Tuesday for iPhones as well, and as to the manufacturer moving to the US, high-tech gadgets such as the iPhone would be produced there. When asked whether or not Trump held the view that iPhone production could eventually come to the US, Leavitt replied, He thinks we have the resources, the workforce, and the manpower to get the job done.

Apple declared in February that it would make $500 billion in US investments over the following four years. She added that if Apple didn't believe the US could do it, they probably wouldn't have made that significant investment, she continued.

However, that is a stretch of the truth. Apple has committed half a trillion dollars, yet it makes no mention of domestic iPhone assembly. The emphasis is on the production of chips in Arizona, AI servers in Houston, original content investments through Apple TV+, and the growth of educational programs such as its academy in Michigan.

Leavitt added in her statement that Trump’s tariff strategy will help in creating both high-skilled jobs in AI and emerging technologies, along with traditional manufacturing jobs.

According to experts, Made-in-USA iPhones are not practical, both financially and because of a lack of experience in the US, despite the Trump administration's strong desire to bring high-tech production back to the US from China.
