The CAIT hosts a summit at the Constitution Club, New Delhi, to spotlight the exploitative practices of digital commerce platforms and their impact on traditional retail and delivery workers.
The CAIT is organizing a national summit called “Cruel Face of Quick Commerce”, which will take place at New Delhi’s Constitution Club. The conference, which was organized in cooperation with the AICPDF and the AIMRA, intends to reveal what CAIT refers to as the exploitative tactics of digital commerce platforms.
Economists, policy experts, trade leaders, and stakeholders from throughout the country will gather at the event to discuss how rapid commerce and e-commerce are impacting India's traditional retail landscape. The conference will discuss the long-term risks that digital commerce platforms represent, according to CAIT.
According to CAIT, platforms that were previously hailed as innovative are now involved in unethical activities like unfair pricing, breaking rules governing FDI, and undermining the rights of buyers and sellers. According to CAIT, the country's socioeconomic fabric is in danger as small traders and shops are being marginalized by the unrestrained growth of rapid commerce and e-commerce.
CAIT brought up several challenges that needed to be talked about during the conclave. These include abusive working conditions for delivery workers in the rapid commerce industry, systemic violations of FDI policies, displacement of conventional merchants, and manipulation of consumer behavior through deep discounting.
The adoption of a Policy Resolution at the end of the conclave will demand governmental protections to preserve traditional trade, encourage fair market competition, and guarantee the mental and physical health of workers in rapid commerce.
