By 2030, 20 million Hyundai vehicles will be powered by Pleos, the company's proprietary infotainment and vehicle operating system, which will propel software-defined mobility forward.
During its "Pleos 25" developer conference in Seoul, Hyundai presented its new infotainment and operating system, Pleos. 20 million Hyundai automobiles will have it by 2030 when it is introduced in the second quarter of 2026.
Like Teslas, the new system will include a large tablet-style screen. The Hyundai screen appears to have buttons and knobs instead of being touch-only based on the prototype.
The Greek term "Pleo," which means "more," and "OS," which stands for "Operating System," is combined to form the Pleos name.
Pleos is entirely in-house developed. It will be an end-to-end platform that combines cloud infrastructure, fleet management, mobility and logistics optimization solutions, high-performance processors and controllers, a vehicle operating system (vehicle OS), and an infotainment system (Pleos Connect).
Numerous smart mobility features are made possible by it, including vehicle networking, autonomous driving, real-time data analysis, and improved route planning.
By the end of 2027, Hyundai also intends to implement Level 2+ (L2+) ADAS. Using cameras and radars, the Level 2+ system detects the environment around the car and applies artificial intelligence to make sophisticated choices.
Furthermore, the business intends to further partnerships with Google, Uber, Samsung, Naver, SOCAR, and Unity in order to broaden the software-defined vehicle (SDV) ecosystem.
In the quickly evolving automotive sector, Hyundai Motor Group has been committed to SDV development since 2023, according to Chang Song, President and Head of Hyundai Motor and Kia's Advanced Vehicle Platform (AVP) Division. They are now evolving into a business that offers software-centered mobility experiences, beginning with Pleos 25. Their ultimate objective is Cloud Mobility, in which all types of mobility are interconnected via cloud-based software and change continually over time. From a car to fleets, hardware to software and eventually to the complete mobility infrastructure and cities, Pleos helps to provide a connected mobility experience.
