CBD Giants Join Forces to Create Unified Advocacy Group

Two of the United States’ most noted cannabis industries have merged with the goal to magnify the voices of almost half a million staff as the new government administration swears in.

The National Cannabis Roundtable (NCR) and the US Cannabis Council have joined forces to establish the US Cannabis Roundtable, combining the two organizations' power and policy advocacy activities.

As a result, the US Cannabis Roundtable will represent about 13,000 cannabis firms from 38 states, as well as nearly half a million full-time employees. Its establishment coincides with what it says as a 'pivotal juncture for the legal CBD business,' when a single voice is more vital than ever.

While many questions remain about the next administration's attitude on cannabis, Kim Rivers, CEO of Trulieve and Vice Chair of NCR, believes that the soon-to-be President Trump supported cannabis rescheduling and the SAFER Banking Act during the campaign.

The new organization will advocate for issues like rescheduling cannabis to Schedule III and passing states' rights legislation to empower states to make their own cannabis policy decisions. The SAFE/SAFER Banking Act aims to enact cannabis banking legislation and restrict international cannabis firms from listing on NASDAQ and NYSE while state-licensed US cannabis companies cannot.
