A tipster has suggested that Apple's iPhone 17 Pro models may contain more sophisticated screens than the company's regular models.
Apple's prior launch schedules suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max won't be available until the second half of 2025. Even though the iPhone 16 series was only introduced a few months ago, information about Apple's upcoming smartphone generation has already started to appear online. According to a source, Apple is currently working on a cutting-edge display technology that will improve the iPhone Pro models' performance and durability while using less electricity.
Tipster @jukanlosreve said in a post on X that Apple's alleged iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will employ a new "Low-Dielectric TEE" display technology. In contrast to current technology, the user asserts that it optimizes display longevity, boosts energy economy, and improves overall performance.
LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED screens with refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz are used in Apple's current flagship models, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a bigger 6.9-inch screen than the iPhone 16 Pro, which has a 6.3-inch screen.
All variants of Apple's iPhone 17 smartphone series will use LTPO OLED panels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, according to a South Korean newspaper last month. According to the most recent leak, Apple's high-end iPhone 17 series handsets would come with more sophisticated display technology.
The iPhone 17 and the speculated iPhone 17 Air variant may be the first non-Pro iPhone models to have ProMotion screens with 120Hz refresh rates, if recent claims are to be believed. The 6.1-inch and 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panels on the current iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models have a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
