Himalaya SAP partnership

Global healthcare company Himalaya has teamed up with SAP to improve its sustainability initiatives, managing its environmental impact and carbon footprint with SAP's tools.

According to Himalaya's CIO, Ananth Narayan Narasimhan, sustainability is ingrained in the company's culture, and they firmly feel that what benefits Mother Earth benefits both Himalaya and its clients. With SAP, they want to increase productivity, sharpen their focus on important areas, and move more quickly, both in spirit and in action, down this crucial path.

In order to integrate operational and sustainability KPIs, the sustainability solutions will assist Himalaya's RISE with SAP journey. A variety of additional SAP products, such as SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, SAP Integrated Business Planning, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Business Warehouse, are also advantageous to Himalaya.

Implementing product-level carbon accounting to determine the carbon footprints of individual SKUs from birth to death is the main goal of SAP's sustainability solutions. Supply chain, electricity, water, and waste management optimization are the goals.

Additionally, Narasimhan stated that they would be able to assess and enhance their performance index for each activity with the support of the strong, integrated SAP system. They require precise, activity-based, and component-wise data visibility in order to make this possible.

He went on to say that they have put a lot of effort into doing so, documenting the sustainability effect in addition to working with the SAP master data. For instance, they have supply chain and financial data if they're utilizing new packaging, and they also know what kind of plastic is used, how recyclable it is, and other details. Additionally, they will not only be able to determine the carbon footprint at the corporate level but also at the product SKU level. Furthermore, the data's precision presents enormous opportunities for blockchain, analytics, and artificial intelligence capabilities.

According to Susanna Hasenoehrl, Head of Sustainability at SAP Asia Pacific, companies must comprehend both financial and sustainability data in order to make wise business decisions. Himalaya is utilizing SAP Sustainability Solutions to future-proof its company in order to comprehend its global influence, optimize supplier chains, and set itself apart from rivals.
